Jo Turner and Val Gilbert have voluntarily been giving up their time to sit in the reception of the San Pedro Library every week to sell English books which have been donated by other kind ADAPT members. They also sell from a table at the ADAPT meetings.
At a cost of only 20cents for paperbacks and 50cents for hardbacks, as you can imagine, this took a while but eventually Jo and Val were able to hand over a cheque for 100 euro to the Town Hall to be used for the San Pedro Library.
This was gratefully received and it was decided that the library would like to stock some English books. Another little step by San Pedro and ADAPT towards integration?
The presentation took place last week at the Town Hall where Jo and Val handed over the new books to a delighted Mari Carmen from the library, in the presence of representatives from the Mayor's office, with the hope of perhaps donating double the amount next time.
ADAPT has other projects in the pipeline, along with various clubs such as Rambling, Painting, Skittles etc.
Meetings take place in the Casino, San Pedro, at 10am on the first Saturday of the month, the next one being November 7th.
